Come and explore God's biological creation and learn important skills through the study of life science. This course will examine living things—starting with the fascinating world of cells, to the hierarchy of organisms like bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, animals, then humans, and finally, how they all interact with their environment. All these concepts are approached with the goal to better understand the living world that God created.
Class format includes a lecture which introduces the chapter concepts and prepares students for the laboratory exercises and periodic testing. This class is also
designed to teach and hone skills in the following areas as students prepare for high school and beyond:
*Research - a guided research paper on a major biome is the done as a spring
project.
*Study strategies - by exploring how the student learns best and by reinforcing
acquired information in a variety of ways for greater retention
*Note taking - students learn to record important points from the lecture.
*Public speaking/oral reporting - students share their researched information
when they give a formal presentation of their research paper.
*Lab technique - developed during microscopy labs, dissections, as well as other
lab activities.
*Critical thinking - facilitated class discussions help build critical thinking skills.
Parents partner with Mrs. Miller to ensure their student's success by checking Google Classroom weekly to oversee their student's completion of assignments and help them review for testing. For more information, please visit:
Grade Level: This class is geared toward students in 7th grade; homework: 45 min - 1 hr/day
Class Time: Two hours (2) hours once a week: 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays

Tuition: $550/year or 10 monthly payments of $55
Laboratory Fee - $80 (one-time fee; non-refundable after August 1). The lab fee and Mrs. Miller’s class registration form must be received to hold a student’s placein class. Withdrawal fee after 9/30/24 is 3 months’ tuition; after 12/15/24, withdrawal fee is tuition for the remainder of the year.
**Section A and B are the same course taught at different times. Please only register for one of them.
