PREP Classes Articles of Faith

The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that the PREP Classes organization believes. This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of the PREP Classes’ beliefs, but it serves as an important foundation of our commitment to the Word of God.

Doctrinal Statement

  1. God is the Creator and Sovereign Ruler of the universe. He has existed eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14)
  2. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He came to earth, lived a sinless life, and gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all who would receive Him by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days effectually conquering sin and death. (Matt. 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; 1 Peter 2:21-24, John 19:30)
  3. From birth man possesses a sin nature which separates him from fellowship with His Creator God. In order to restore fellowship, man must personally accept the work of the Lord Jesus Christ as payment for the penalty of those sins thus receiving salvation from said penalty. (Rom 3:23, 6:23, Acts 16:31, Romans 5:18)
  4. God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society and human sexuality. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. Marriage is designed by God to provide intimate companionship and sexual expression between husband and wife according to biblical standards and the means for the procreation of children. (Genesis 2:18-25; Proverbs 22:6; Matthew 5:31-32; 19:3-9; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:21-33; Colossians 3:18-21; 1 Thess. 4:3; Heb. 13:4)
  5. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.  God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.  Parents are to teach their children according to biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents. (Genesis 1:26-27, 5:1-2; Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 139:13- 16; Proverbs 22:6; Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6)

Statement of Faith

  1. I believe the Bible to be the verbally-inspired and only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:21)
  2. I believe that there is one God, eternally existent in the three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Gen 1:1, Luke 1:35, 3:21-22, John 1:1, 10:30, 10:37-38)
  3. I believe in the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Isa 7:14, Matt 1:23, Luke 1:35, 24:6, 24:51, John 11:25, 20:30-31, Acts 1:11, Heb 4:15, 7:25, 9:12, Col 1:14, Rev 19:11-16)
  4. I believe that man is sinful by nature and that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential and an absolute necessity for his salvation. (John 3:16-19, 5:24, Rom 3:19-20, Eph 2:8-9, Titus 3:5,6)
  5. I believe in the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. (John 14:26, Eph 4:30, 1 Cor 3:16, 6:19-20)
  6. I believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: They who are saved unto eternal life and they who are lost unto eternal damnation. (John 5:28, 29, Heb 9:27-28)
  7. I believe in the spiritual unity of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Rom 8:9, 1 Cor 12:12-13, Gal 3:26-28)
  8. I believe in the creation by the direct act of God. (Gen 1, 5:1-2)
  9. I believe God ordained marriage as the permanent union of one man and one woman, intrinsically ordered to procreation and lifetime companionship in furtherance of God’s glory. (Gen 2:18-25; Proverbs 22:6)
  10. I believe each of the two sexes is a gift from God meant to be offered back to him either in complementary unity with the opposite sex in the context of marriage for procreation and intimate companionship or in celibacy for undivided devotion to Christ. (Gen 1:26-27; Gen. 5:1-2; Psalm 139:13-16)
