This course will focus on writing, literature, and grammar. We will complete weekly writing assignments, read and discuss several novels, and learn grammar along the way! English 4 is a teacher and parent partnership, and I will need your help to make this year a great success for each student. Grammar will be integrated across our writing curriculum and our novels. Grammar curriculum begins in 5th grade.  Parents will be responsible for editing writing projects and monitoring novel reading.

1. Wonders of Science Writing Lessons by The Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW)

“Students will write about science-themed topics such as insects, inventions, and famous scientists while they learn to write with Structure and Style. 2. Portable Walls by The Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW). “With Portable Walls students can create a writing station right at their desks. Other important info:

Tuition can be paid by Zelle (preferred), check, Venmo*, or cash. Monthly tuition is due the first class of each month.  Late tuition will incur a late fee of $10.  For students who drop the class after September 30, three months’ tuition will be required as a drop fee.  For students who drop the class after December 15, tuition for the remainder of the year will be needed as a drop fee. (*If paying by Venmo, please help cover the Venmo business fee. Prices adjusted to $61/month or $549/year.)

Additional Supplies: Students will need loose notebook paper and pencils or pens. Students will be provided with a folder for homework and graded work, along with a journal.
