PreCalculus - Section A (Cypress)

This pre-calculus course is the culmination of all math courses, with the addition of Trigonometry.  Students learn how algebra and geometry are related and applied in the real world.

Topics include:

  • Basic statistics, and sequences and series
  • Number systems, graphs, systems of equations
  • Functions, including polynomial functions, power functions and rational functions
  • Exponential and logarithmic functions
  • Trigonometric functions with real-world applications
  • Analytic trigonometry and appropriate applications
  • Analytic geometry in two and three dimensions
  • SAT/ACT preparation throughout the year, skills essential for standardized testing.
  • Development of logical reasoning and thinking skills
  • Organization and study skills, to be a more independent learner

Students who complete this class should be well prepared to enter a college level calculus course.  It is imperative that students enrolling in PreCal have a working knowledge of Geometry and Algebra 2.  This is a very fast-paced class. Teacher recommendation is required for this class.  If you have questions about class placement, please contact me as early as possible so that decisions may be made in a timely manner to allow the student maximum success in their math studies.

Students should expect to spend 3 – 6 hours outside of class on their work per week. The class meets for 1 ½ hours on Mondays and Wednesdays for a total of 3 hours each week. This class will earn the student 1 high school honors credit in math.

Tuition Deposit:  $100 (refundable before August 1).  This is the first month’s tuition.

Tuition Installments:  $100 per month (Sept-Feb:  6 months)

Student is NOT registered for the class until the Deposit/First Month’s tuition and Supply Fee have been paid.  

NOTE:  This is a two-day / week class.

**Section A and B are the same course taught at different times.  Section A is a 2 Day Class meeting Monday and Wednesday.  Section B is a 1 Day Class meeting on Thursday.
