Topics include:

  • Basic statistics, and sequences and series
  • Number systems, graphs, systems of equations
  • Functions, including polynomial functions, power functions and rational functions
  • Exponential and logarithmic functions
  • Trigonometric functions with real-world applications
  • Analytic trigonometry and appropriate applications
  • Analytic geometry in two and three dimensions
  • SAT/ACT preparation throughout the year, skills essential for standardized testing.
  • Development of logical reasoning and thinking skills
  • Organization and study skills, to be a more independent learner

Students who complete this class should be well prepared to enter a college level calculus course.  It is imperative that students enrolling in PreCal have a working knowledge of Geometry and Algebra 2.  This is a very fast-paced class. Teacher recommendation is required for this class.  If you have questions about class placement, please contact me as early as possible so that decisions may be made in a timely manner to allow the student maximum success in their math studies.
