Description:  NOTE: THIS IS A TWO DAY CLASS.  YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR BOTH MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY.
(NOTE:  Class times are NOT necessarily the same for the 2 class days.)

This class is appropriate for students who have successfully completed a year of Pre-Algebra and have strong problem-solving skills. Class time will be spent teaching algebra concepts and applications. Students must be able to take detailed notes (quickly) from the board and copy examples worked in class to review at home. Students will use the textbook as a resource for reference, daily homework assignments, and test review.

• ratios and proportions
• solving and graphing linear equations
• solving and graphing linear systems of equations
• solving and graphing linear inequalities
• solving and graphing linear systems of inequalities
• polynomials and factoring
• quadratic equations
• exponential and radical equations
• study skills and organization, in order to be a more independent learner
• test-taking techniques

Often, we will apply concepts to real life situations.  Students will be expected to complete word problems.   Graphing will be integrated into the teaching.

If a student drops the class after September 15, there will be a withdrawal fee of two months' tuition.  For all monthly tuition paid after the 10th of the month, a $10 late fee will be assessed.  To reserve your student's place in the class, you need to pay the Supply Fee ($50) and the first month's tuition ($100). [Tuition covers both class days.]

Students should expect to spend as much time outside of class on their work as they do attending class per week.  The class meets 1.5 hours on Monday and 1.5 hours on Wednesday for a total of 3 hours per week.  This class will earn the student 1 high school honors credit in math.
